Xeon for sequential programs ie GIS

I'm a research analyst at a small company. I spend most of my time in SPSS/R/SAS & ArcGIS. ArcGIS is definitely the most demanding programs as it sequentially redraws each layer/dataset of the map whenever a change is made. I'll probably be getting the new machine through Dell.

Suggestions for a Xeon? W3580? Since the programs are almost exclusively sequential, do I just go for highest clockspeed? I'll probably throw an SSD in there to feed the beast.
