eWiz should be around $200 shipped, right? They also combine shipping so if you order multiple items, would be cheaper per unit shipping.

So as far as most of you know, these are compatible with most P35 chipset motherboards?

They should be as long as the P35 board can run the E8400. This chip and the E8400 have the same CPU ID string, so the boards see this as an E8400.

They are available many places ... But NewEgg drops the ball here for Sure !

Hmmm...anyone else just a little suspicious that Intel is about to drop a new stepping on the market and these are just the beginnings of clearing out the "old" inventory?

We know they "fixed" something in the desktop quads, something that wasn't an issue for Xeon's because the Xeon's were on a different stepping...it would stand to reason that the new desktop quads have been "fixed" via similiar stepping to the Harpertowns. So what to do with the first round of wolfdale steppings? Clearance bin!

Combine that with the sudden lack of E8400 availability everywhere and I think you've nailed it. My guess is the temperature reporting issue is what got fixt.

for me the temp reporting was only wack at idle. Load temps were accurate according to most new software like coretemp & everest. They would increase and decrease accordingly during prime for whichever voltage/mhz i was running

Any guess as to when this new stepping might come in?

1-2 weeks, maybe, or would it likely be longer?

PSSSSHT! Everyone knows you can't believe what you read on the Internet?

Now your cousin's sister's BFF whose bro-in-law knows a guy who used to work at Intel, or what is AMD? Whatever. THAT source is legit.
