Xeon Atom: MIA @32nm?

No released NM10 based motherboard ever offered 6 sata ports that work in Linux. No NM10 based motherboard ever offered 4 PCIe lanes in a single slot. http://www.linuxtech.net/features/intel_atom_pineview_motherboards_overview.html. While you should be able to do either one or the other, NM10 will not support the combination and neither has ever been offered. Cedar Trail is all NM10 based and anyone who wants to do software RAID 6 will likely jump on the Brazos platform with its 6 sata ports and 4 PCIe lanes in a x16 slot. Where is Xeon Atom?

Xeon Atom should be coming with the microarch update, iirc. It'll be interesting seeing the perf/watt of that vs. those 20W SNB Xeons.

It's no Xeon, but Milstead is the ICH10(R) based 32nm Atom that will address this market. With 6 sata ports and 6 PCIe Gen 2.0 lanes it is feature competitive at a 14 watt TDP. It was disclosed at IDF session STOS001 which also makes clear that Intel feels real good about its SAS/SATA chipset technology and intents to distribute it broadly from Celeron to Xeon starting with 15 watt platforms. http://intelstudios.edgesuite.net/idf/2011/sf/aep/STOS001/STOS001.html. I want to see a Milstead product.
