Same with AMD they have 12 core opterton

I believe there is a dual mobo to go 16 core intel chips.

My question is why arent these 8 core Intel chips or AMD chips for consumer enthusiast,

Also if the 980 Extreme is 6 core, but they have a 8 core xeon. Then which is the fastest computer to get as far as CPU hmmmmmmm. Why is it soo hard for Intel to make a 8 core processor for us. hmmm

Moved to correct forum.

1) Wrong forum
2) Most consumers don't need 8 cores. If you feel you do, then feel free to buy a Xeon processor.

8 cores are unnecessary, much like your endless posting about the exact same things worded differently.
Like you've been told countless times, if you want more cores, there are options for you.

AMD's 12 core doesn't even physically fit in AM3, the cpu is regtangular instead of square, can't say for Intel's Xeon.

Server processors offer more cores at low clock speed while desktop offers fewer at higher clock speed, their designed for their needs. Gaming on AMD's 12 core opteron would perform worse than an Athlon II X4, along with most any task a normal consumer does.

Theres very few home users or even power users able to make effective use of 4 or 6 cores let alone 8.

I have 8 cores (16 threads) on a single machine, and I'm an "enthusiast". They cost me ~$800, which is less than a 980X, are clocked slightly higher (conservatively) and kick total ass.

I pwn U, tweakboy!
