Xeon 603 clips for HSF??

I bought a pair of 2.0 Xeons (400FSB). They are coming with 1U heatsinks. I also purchased some Windtunnel's that are coming with 604 clips, which I can not use. My question is if the 603 clips that are coming with the 1U heatsinks will work with the Windtunnel's?

I doubt it - the HSF unit from the 604 Windtunnel bolts under the motherboard, has a plastic retainer jig, and a pair of spring clips to hold the heatsink "slug" to the plastic frame.

If those 603 clips are the kind that clip directly to the processor, not a chance in hell.

HSF for the 604 is the same as the 603. The only thing different is the clips. However, mine are coming with 1U server heatsinks and clips. I need to know if these clips are the same as the clips that come with the windtunnels.

I answered your question once - you clearly chose to ignore it; no bother, you'll understand when you get the Windtunnels.

Clips designed for a 1U HSF will not hold the HS from the Windtunnel - it's much, much larger than 1U.

I did not choose to ignore it. All you did was describe the 603 hardware, which I am familiar with. I was asking about the 1U hardware. I have since rec'd the 1U hardware and now have the answer to my question.
