Hi guys, I have a question for you guys. I have a buddy of mine who has a Intel XEON 3070 clocked at 2.66GHZ, and he is willing to sell it to me for cheap with the Mobo, An ASUS P5M2-m. So first of all, That mobo won't support my 9800GTX right?
So would getting a new MOBO that supports that CPU give me a performance boost in Gaming applications? Or can I use my ASUS P5B Vanilla to run the XEON?
I know these are Noobie Questions, But what are the differences between server CPU's and Regular C2D's? Would My C2D E6400 OC'd to 3.1Ghz Be on Par performance wise with the XEON or is going to be slower in regards to Gaming Apps.
And how do the XEON's Overclock, Providing my Zalman CNPS 9500 fits on that XEON? Will my Aftermarket cooler fit on this CPU??
I read somewhere that XEON's Are just the same as a Conroe? Is that a Accurate statement or no?
I need to know if it will be worth the trouble of getting a new MOBO and making the switch for many Gaming Apps? But if i get all this done and switched out, what other Performance Gains will I see, Burning, editing ETC...
Would I be able to Overclock the XEON CPU very high, what are Avg Overclocks for these CPU's.
On Newegg they are going for around 350-400 bucks, so what else are they Good for besides acting as a serer??
thanx as always guys for you help.
Links to articles would also help.

that ASUS P5M2-m mobo won't support a graphics card, it has no expansion slot. Well, xeon 3070 will perform similarly to intel e6700, basically same chip, it has 4mb l2 cache compared to your 2mb L2 cache, it should also have no problems going into your p5b mobo. Personally I wouldn't pay more than $150 for that xeon, since you can buy newer e8xx series for around $200.

Thanx for the reply.
Anyone know how much if any a Raid setup would boost Gaming performance? Does my ASUS P5B support a Raid setup. Because my friend is also selling his Hard drives off to me for a package deal if I want. Right now there is four 750GB Drives in raid, So I am wondering if I would see any difference in Gaming Performance if I go with a RAID setup on my ASUS P5B?
