Xeon 3040 Compatability?

ok, im wondering if i can stick a xeon 3040 in any LGA775 motherboard and have it still work...i want to get the cpu and i have a P4 3.0ghz lga775 in my DFI 915P mobo right now, but im wondering if i can swap them? i dont mean will i have to reformat or sometihng i just mean like...is it possible to use the Xeon 3040 in any socket T mobo?

The motherboard needs to be Core 2 Duo compatible. Check the manual.

back to the drawing board...gotta find a new mobo now....and with a new mobo comes the need for new ram....jeez.....

I would go with the Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 board. Intel chipsets > Nvidia chipsets.

Which Pentium 3Ghz do you have? I think there were maybe 7 different Pentium 3Ghz cpu's. :D

yeah....i want SLI though....


oh yeah.... and i have the P4 Prescott socket T lga775...not the old socket 478.......

SLI is not worth it considering all the extra costs involved. Bigger PSU, extra card, more cooling, plus drivers have never been up to par. Then in 6 months a new single card is out that is faster than your two working together.

IMO, not worth it. It's better to get a single fast card.

well i already have the PSU and water cooling.....plus i ordered the other board last night....so oh well.... :-/
