I acquired a server for 200 just to get the 1245v3

Being that it's basically a 4770

Will games improve any?

My main purpose is for media serving and VMs. Gaming is kinda important too

Oh yea will replace a 4460

If you're playing at a resolution where it's GPU bound, then it'll be hard to see the improvements, but with CPU-bound scenarios there will be a noticeable uplift. Will vary from game to game.

I see bf1 as a trend starter and I won't be upgrading to ryzen until gen2 not a fan of being first adopter. I figure new games will stress my it too much. Maybe I can swap CPUs and turn that server into a media server and NAS.

I mainly game at 1080p

If you have a GTX 1060/RX 480/RX 580 level of GPU, it will be hard to see the difference.
