Doing a new build and don't really want to wait till Skylake.

Should I continue saving up for the 5820K+mobo+Ram

Or...Microcenter has that particular xeon marked down to $206...I have DDR3 and all I would need to do is pick up an H97 mobo.

Can't decide, what would you guys do aside from buying a 4690k

5820k would most likely be your best bet.

I know you said you don't want to wait for Skylake, though if rumours are true and it's a big step forward, you'd stand to loose a great deal of resale value of your new setup.

Up to you of course, though I'm waiting for Skylake.

Yeah I probably should. I just have all these parts and boxes sitting in my closet waiting for Skylake and I am not sure it will truly be delivered on time as Broadwell has been delayed over and over.

It would be helpful to know what sort of tasks this new build is being designed to accomplish. The Xeon E3-1231v3 generally provides very good value for those who want a stable, non-overclocked system. I believe it is about the cheapest way to get a new 4C/8T Intel CPU.

I want to but I am not sure it's a smart upgrade tbh.

Maybe it's just an itch to upgrade considering I am upgrading everything else in my PC

What are you wanting it to do, and what are you upgrading from?
This...and, the i7-4790K combos may be slightly more expensive, but offer 500-600MHz more, and are overall much more comparable with the i7-5820K (for stock use). For non-OC, you might be able to get to or under $300, if you can get the CPU+mobo discount on a nice H97 board.
