Xenon vs HID??

the people here don't know anything, xenon is what you fill up the HID's with when you run out of halogen fluid.

Is that right next to the blinker fluid?

can I use Mountain Drew instead of that expensive 3M's blinker fluid

HID bulbs don't have a filament but are created by an electrical arc that lights up the gas inside (which is usually xenon). If you see something marketed as a xenon bulb, it's just a regular halogen bulb with (I think) some xenon gas inside it (which is ignited by a tungsten filament).

yeah, it's the new fluid. the old halogen kind was worse for the enviroment, so they banned it, although you can still get it on the black market. the only thing is when i converted my light fluid to xenon, they weren't as bright anymore. also the conversion was expensive.

oh wait. that was my A/C. i get them confused.

HID lamps require a ballast and ignition circuit and are typically sold as a system and are much more expensive than their incandescent counterparts.

HID lamps aren't true Xeon arc lamps but are really a form of metal halide short arc lamp with xenon added to hasten lamp warmup time.

Xenon is also added to more traditional filament lamps to reduce carbonisation so the lamps can be driven harder producing whiter light. The colour temperature of these lamps is still much lower than HID lamps.

Cheers!
