CF is widely used, its also larger, up to 1 or 2 for flash and >2 on microdrive.

I have both, I use xD with xD -> CF camera, had a fuji also and gave that away and kept the xd memory.

Supposely xD is faster, lower power consumption. I have no way of testing it, so I can't tell if its true. I think the largest xD is 512 mb now. The spec calls for 8gb total.. i dont know if that is possible..

I did not get a chance to run bench on my 256 xd vs cf, thats the only thing i can do..

xD permits taking large photos, i mean wide screen shots that you can merge using the cam's software (if it's supported byt the cam) dunno about the others though if they support this feature or not.

CF can be a lot faster or slower depending on the modle you buy. most cameras don't use the high speed flash memory anyhow, esp if all you want to do is take pictures. CF is definatly much larger and it uses pins which scares most,it still scares me a bit but has yet to be any kind of problem at all. i'd def go for the CF mainly because its so much cheaper. i got my 512meg card a year ago for $100, i'm sure you can get it much cheaper now. its nice to go overkill and never worry about the size again, all you have to worry about then is battery life.

I have that camera and it's nice!

xD is Fuji's prefered format. I only use xD but that's because my other Fuji camera is xD only. The only gripe I have about it is xD usually isn't available on those universal x-in-1 card readers without help from a xD->CF adapter.

Microdrives are those mini-HDDs that can have gigabytes of space.

I like CompactFlash. It's big enough that I won't smoosh it and it's easy to handle when you're out and about snapping pictures. Dell was having a sale on 512mb Ultra II CF cards, the high speed ones, for like $100 recently. I'd got with CF...lots of other hardware use those cards as well, so if you get a non-Fuji widget you might be able to swap between devices.

yea,i did forget the mention that the xDs are overy small in my opinion. its also nice if you get a high capacity CF card and a small USB reader you can use the cards as removable pen drives too.

The smaller it is, the easier it is to lose, lol. I would use personally used CF over xD.

If there's a choice, I'd take CF because they're cheaper, come in larger capacities, and can be quite a bit faster. The only thing xD has going for them is their size.
