I am trying to copy the entire contents of a Hard Drive Running Windows XP to another drive. (size upgrade)

It used to be that in Windows 98SE I could just run: xcopy32 *.* c: d: /k /e /s /h /i

What do I use for XP. Cause XCOPY is not working ...

errrrrrrrrrrr

XP has no dos so you'll have to use ghost or drive copy.
you could also try looking up on the new hdds manufacturers website to see if they offer a free utility for the transfer!

Did you try just "xcopy" ? Which is still there in XP.

Just becuase there is no DOS in XP, does not mean there are not equivalent commands available from
the NT command prompt.

Yes I tried just XCOPY but it would copy like 2 files and die. Says no permissions. Things is, I was doing it while logged in as Admin. I killed the page file and everything ... sux.

Have youtries booting straight into DOS? That would bypass the OS. If you are getting permission errors, it is probably because windows is using something that you are trying to copy.

by any chance, is your winXP drive formatted NTFS?

also, you may have already tried this, but please go ahead and do so any ways to see if it works:

open up a NT command prompt and from your C:\ type:

xcopy *.* /E /H /K d:

and let me know if that works for you.

good luck :)
