XCOM: EU - bug = brown trousers time

I attempted to get a screenshot of this (I used the print screen key) but unfortunately it came out entirely black.

I was assaulting a large UFO landing, so a standard compliment of 19 aliens, except... it put them all in the big room at the start of the map. Luckily most of them were quite bunched together and I had two heavies with blaster launchers and shredder rockets 🙂

Yeah, game will do that to you.

On an iron man run, my last guy, moved 2 spaces to the left to get a better FOV over a completely open area and suddenly, 2 squads of elite Mutons and a Berseker squad literally spawned right in front of me.

They proceeded to kill every single fully upgraded solider in my squad.

I just walked away and uninstalled the game. Complete total BS.

The other weird one I get is a cyberdisc comes into view, it is floating steadily in the direction of my men, then suddenly it's on the other side of my squad.

The other odd thing is that this is my fourth run through the game (I'm about 90% of my way through it this time), and the bugs seem to get odder with each successive run.

Funny you mentioned this. Just a couple of days ago, my Assault scout ran smack bang into a Muton Elite group as well as TWO fricking Sectopods.

Took a lot to get out of that spot even with my then well-positioned squads (hurrah for my two double-tapping snipers).

Now that's some high quality rage quitting there. lol.

Are there any games you don't hate?

Did I say I hated the game? No.

I hated some of the BS that the game throws at you. I was enjoying myself pretty well, except when that kind of shit occurred.

Sorry, somehow I misconstrued the incredibly subtle act of uninstalling the game and walking away as "hate". 😛

The game can indeed throw surprises like this a lot but I learnt that very slow advances and retreating a few steps (where necessary to gain better grounds/avoid running into enemy fires) help keep your men alive. Those tactics certainly kept my men alive after encountering Mutons and Sectopods all at the same time.

It took me about 3 Ironman Classic re-runs before I could get things progressing along. I'm about to start the final battle on my current run and oddly I have only 1 support (the rest are casualties) & 1 psychic (only 1 gifted thus far) to take along.

I've played through this game twice, it's a real gem. I love it. I haven't encountered any major bugs except for the odd bit of weird AI. A few times I had an alien just repeat itself over and over again. So it will run out a door, and end its turn. The run in again. Then out. Then in. Until I kill it.

Man something similar happened to me and it s**ts me - its like they never really bothered to test the game. (Yeah testing is 1/3 of total dev budget but its very important)
