Have you actually played it?

Oh, and hate to break it to Xbox fanboys, but that standard DVD format drive is going to come to bite Xbox360 devs in the ass.

You need to visit ign.com and check out some of their info on Gears of War. As one who went to E3 and *played* a number of XBox 360 games, I can tell you that yes, the system *is* "WOW!" and yes, the games look great. Given how good they looked in their early beta stages I can only surmise that they're going to be extraordinary to behold (and hopefully many will have great gameplay as well. Full Auto was AWESOME and a lot of fun!).

In many ways this upcoming generation is far more impressive than any that have come before. The hardware alone is awesome, but more importantly developers are going to be unleashed in ways that have never before been possible. Cheer up, it's going to be an interesting 4-5 years with the new boxes! :)

launch titles are always 'wow', then mediocre titles come out in loads, and a couple of impressive games every 6 mo.

Well, eventually the graphics will get a lot better, I think. I *told* everyone on a few other forums that all of those older "Xbox360" screenshots were just high resolution PC game shots for games that were likely to be released on both 360 and PC. Now they eat their words.

And as for gameply, Xbox games for the MOST part to me have always been sort of bland. A few bright spots like Ninja Gaiden. But as for gameplay and overall game production I vastly prefer PC and Sony.

As opposed to the Blu-Ray, no HD-DVD, no Blu-Ray, no HD-DVD, no Blu-Ray, err....

Which one is it again?

I couldn't stand that game. I don't mind cutscenes (Xenosaga fan here :( ), but it just wasn't exciting. I didn't want to be a spy in the fvcking jungle or in 1964.

Absolutely no idea. Sony and their big guns were trying to muscle Hyndai or Samsung or Kim Jong Il or whoever the hell is doing HD-DVD into joining thte Blu-Ray thing. I think Sony is still planning to put Blu-Ray in the PS3, but Microsoft is more or less forced to just use regular DVDs.

Uh, yeah, tell it to the PS2 launch. Their games at launch were 100% CRAP, and they didn't get any GOOD games for a YEAR. Of course, it's also true that Sony has probably 80% garbage in their lineup (and I'd estimate 40% garbage on XBox 1 and 10% garbage for Gamecube).

You're 100% wrong saying that 360 is only a marginal improvement over XBox 1. The system renders nearly 5x the polygons at 4 times the level of detail with always-on 4X AA. The systems we saw at E3 were just the Dev kits, without the final graphics processors or the triple core CPU (they were dual G5's at 2.7Ghz with Radeon X800's). The system is *greatly* superior to the original, to everything in this entire generation and it's completely on-par with Sony's PS3 offering (though without the system bottlenecks, interestingly enough).

Just wait. It's FAR too early to whine right now about a generation that doesn't even *start* for 5 months.

The only two games which have gotten me to sit down and waste half a day or so playing have been on Gamecube. My Xbox hasn't really impressed aside from the modding I've done on it and what that brings with it.

Whoever is saying that PS2 is 80% garbage and Xbox1 40% garbage games is absolutely loony. There are so many craptacular Xbox games geared toward idiot frat boys to buy. Nine thousand stupid racing titles, at least 8000 of them street racing bullshiat.

I basically only play sports games on my Xbox, and even that is a pain in the ass to play football games on. Everything else is PS2 or obviously PC.

It's actually about 60% playing and 40% cutscenes. It's an *outstanding* game, one of the system's very best. The MGS series as a whole has some of the best storytelling and character development of any series out there.

It's not true that they're more or less "forced to use regular DVD", it's simply the only intelligent choice at the moment. The "war" between formats, HD-DVD and Blu-Ray, is FAR from decided. Those who choose wrong end up with a nice little betamax box and a sign on their head saying "jackass". Going with dual-layer DVD is a sure-win idea.
