Xbox360 won't connect to wireless network

I got a new router today (old one burned out and the verizon folks gave me a new one). I cannot get my 360 to connect to the network. It picks up the network, i enter the wep key, but as soon as I test the xboxlive connection it says not connected. I'm really beating my head against the wall here, because I just hooked up 3 other computers wirelessly and the only thing that won't work is my 360. Is it a setting on the router that I'm missing? I've gone to the support site but it's no help. Any help is appreciated.

Were there any settings on your 360 in regards to wireless that you need to reset back to defaults? (In case you set something previously)

Have you tried disabling the wep key and just connecting to the open network?

I would do this as well. I had the same problem when I first tried to hook mine up.

- Disable the WEP on your router
- Connect the 360 wireless to the router
- Enable the WEP on your router
- Enter the key on your 360

Should work then.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I did some research according to the model of the router and ended up updating the firmware which fixed the problem. Apparently the old firmware had some sort of problem with the Xbox's. Was really beating my head against the wall there for a bit.

Where do you enter the WEP key? I'm using the belkin wireless game router for my 360 and I'm having the same problem. There are a few open networks around me and it always connects to those which gives me a crappy live connection. I tried to enter my IP and everything else manually but that didn't help. I haven't been able to enter the WEP key since I don't know how. :Q

From my answer in your thread
On the 360, go to the system tab, select network settings, select edit settings, and it will provide you with basic and additional settings tabs. To get it on a secure WPA or WEP connection, you should just need to use the third box under the basic settings tab where it has wireless mode listed. choose it and it'll provide the SSID list, choose your's and enter the key, then choose test media and it should be good to go
That is all I have had to do.

I have tried doing this. The problem is that when I try to go to the edit setting and edit the wireless mode. The wireless option is "whited out." It won't allow me to select that as an option. Thus, not allowing me to be able to select my network and enter my network key. I don't know how to make this an option though. I have tried restoring the network settings and that did nothing.

If it helps, I have the Belking Wireless Game router that looks like This except its white.

Any ideas how I can make it an option to select my network so I can play on my secured network? Right now the adapter just connect to any network that is open around me.

Thanks 🙂
