Ok I had it configured at my condo to stream songs from my roomates hard drive. Now I have moved out and I want to stream from my computer hard drive. When I bring up hard drives it still shows my roomates hard drive even though he doesn't exist on my LAN. How do I disassociate the hard drive and re-associate with the hard drive on my computer?

Does hitting the "change source" button ('X' I think) not bring up your computer? What program are you using to stream?

Dont you have to go to the computers list under the settings blade and disconnect that computer? That's what I have to do here when I have issues connecting to my computer.

Your hard drive has to give permission to your xbox to access it.

I do it all through Media Player, so I don't know how it works with Zune, but it has to be similar.

Yes, and I know that I had to open ports in my firewall for either the Xbox 360 Dash or Windows Media Center Extender, I don't remember which.

I believe this is what I followed.

This is correct. You I recommend using WMP11 to perform this task.

Step by step instructions

Also do what CKDragon mentioned about the ports.

There's a check box in the settings somewhere that says something like "Automatically add new devices". Have you tried that? But if the 360 didn't show up there (and I assume you had it on) then I'm not sure that will make a difference. Also, is your Windows Firewall on? If so, turn it off and see if it works then.

yeah I did that checkbox. I have windows firewall turned off. I use comodo for my PC and it is set to allow any service use TCP/UDP on any port. I also tried port triggering on my router according to the link up above.

I give up. This is whack.

The next thing I would do is completely disable all of your security features temporarily. Also, if you are trying to do this wirelessly then I recommend running a cable instead just to see if that makes a difference. You also might want to switch to default settings on your 360. You can also read about different alternatives to WMP11 and see if they work.

Do you have a second computer in your house? Are you able to connect to the 360 using that computer?

If all else fails, you can also switch from XP Pro to either XP Media Center, Vista Home Premium, or Vista Ultimate. I am not sure if that will make a difference but I have read stories about users who just couldn't get it to work until they made a switch like this. The 360 just seems to work better as a media center when a windows media center OS is being used.

If it's something you want to work I wouldn't give up just yet. It's probably something very simple that we are missing. It's hard to troubleshoot this kind of stuff though without not exactly what we're dealing with.

So what exactly are we dealing with on the network? 360 -> Router -> PC? If so, what model router? Also, although I think it's likely a network issue somewhere, have you tried a different (non-MS) media server like TVersity yet? It's easy to set-up and would be quick to test.
