A while ago i got a xbox360 before looking at what games where aviable for it, now i'm woundering if i made a mistake.

A few note first.

#1, I'm a PC game fan, with a computer that can run Supreme commander and Oblivion on near max setting with good FPS (if i don't notice i don't care), so my standers are high.
#2, this is only about xbox360 games. Please do not post about other console or PC games unless relevant.
#3, what i'm really intrested in is co-op. A good example would be halo 2, which i found fun playing with a friend but would never touch by myself.
#4, -edit- If the PC version is better i'll get that, but if it's close enough i'll go console.
#5, I don't like sports games.
#6, I'm not buying a PS3.

I've rented quite a few games but only a few where any good, and the good ones where not worth re-playing. For almost everyone i've played, a pc game comes to mind that kicks its ass.

The most notible games i've played.
-The outfit (fun co-op, but i can't figure out how to save)
-Armored Core 4 (it could of been so much more, MW4 mercs was so much better)
-Gears of war (got boring and repetitive).
-Call of duty 3 (cant' see anything, much better on PC)
-Crackdown (GTA anyone?)
-Lost planet (couldn't be bothered to finish it)
-Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas (FEAR was much more fun)

I'm not trying to bash the 360, but i just can't find any good games. So aside from Halo 3, can you guys through out some recommendations with the reason why you like it?

if you think gears was repetitive and boring. Return your xbox. I hate sports games too. Ps3 will have more variety but not just yet.

Do you like fighting games?

Yes 360 has the same problem as XBOX1 being 90% of the games are mediocre with nice graphics and terrible gameplay. I think you should stick with Sony/Nintendo for they have MUCH better games.

Remember most Xbox games are made by American developers and most of those developers make pretty boring, repetitive gameplay (usually shooters/violent crap...which is fine sometimes). There is a lot more variety in Japanese developed games.

Crackdown is much more fun once you get into the game a bit and level up your agent. Think of it as playing GTA as a superhero.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance is fairly fun, Diablo-ish with a certain flair.
Burnout Revenge is tons of fun, very pretty and has good online play.
There are also quite a few games coming down the pipe that look like they will be fun. Ninja Gaiden 2, Devil May Cry 4, Burnout Paradise, Mass Effect, Army of Two.

I disagree with your assessment on Gears, Rainbow Six, and Crackdown. So my recommendations would not be helpful. Maybe it's just not for you. Why would anyone buy a console without doing some kind of research on available games?

You're making it pretty hard for yourself man. A lot of XBOX 360 release for the PC as well. The only really good game coming out soon IMO is Ace Combat 6. No clue if it has co-op. I know you said this but you probably would've been better off with a PS3. A lot of their games do not come out for the PC.

@CKDragon
Cuz i had the cash at the time, and i liked a good few xbox games.

@grsing
I wouldn't so much call it making it hard for myself as i can't find games i like. Why get it if i don't like it?

Well thanks for the recommendations guys.

If your interested in coop, check out Army of Two. That game competeley revolves around cooperative play.

If you like Bioware RPGs, Mass Effect is coming out soon as well.

I've had a blast with Need for Speed Most Wanted. Maybe once I beat it I'll start playing some games that have been released over the last year :p

I've played a little of Gears, still not a fan of FPS + analog sticks, but it was an enjoyable game. Next I might try Dead Rising - that's supposed to be an entertaining game. So far haven't been impressed with any of the RPG's. The Blue Dragon demo I thought was terrible, and Eternal Sonata played like an old PSOne RPG (but looked prettier).

PS3 won't have more variety, most games released from Capcom etc are multiplatform. RE5, DMC4 for instance. The only games right now that are exclusive and 100% guaranteed to be are games from Sony directly or MGS4. Pretty much every major release is going multiplatform. Even SquareEnix has been talking about supporting the Xbox360 because of it's popularity in the US and Europe.

err, broke down and bought the oblivion game of the year edition (game+expansions) and halo 3. I've changed my mind regarding "if it's on pc screw console", some games i can see being better on console (i always like playing rpg's on console vs pc anyway).

Just about everyone I know who has played Gears has loved it. I don't know of any one at all that claims Gears was boring or repetitive. It sounds like you're trying to find something not to like with your complaints.

Vegas, Gears, and Crackdown are three very entertaining and long lasting games. If you didn't like at least one of them, then return your 360.

I do not know for sure but a friend told me that Army of Two is *not* going to be coop via XBox Live. I looked on the official site but I couldn't find any definitive answer one way or the other. I can't believe 'Army of Two' wouldn't include coop multiplayer via XBL but who knows? I hope it does but if not neither of us are going to get it.

I think your friend is wrong. That is the whole point of the game.

You mean those cookie cutter junior RPG's? Or the anime-ish regurgitated crap that all looks the same with a different name?
Yeah, lots of variety there.

I sure hope so. We've both been looking forward to that one.

FWIW, other coop favorites are Gears of War and Rainbow Six: Vegas.

Forza 2 is a great, GREAT racing simulation, no joke.
PGR3 is a lot of fun, slightly more arcade, but graphics are great, PGR4 just released and is suppose to be better
Blue Dragon if you enjoyed FF7 and DONT mind goofy looking japanese anime characters..
The DARKNESS is a lot of fun I thought, single player
Shadowrun-FPS with some weird elements, havent really played this much, but looks to be promising
SKATE-if you like skating games, and are turned off by the goofy crazy combos of TH games lately, this is the answer
and yes Halo3 will keep you occupied for hours and hours on end
Chromehounds, really enjoying that one

List more later....but the 360 has a pretty good selection so far. stop by the gamestop and give it a shot.

I recently got a 360 and a bunch of games that I'm having fun with.
Gears of War - rather short, but decent multiplayer and entertaining enough to play through multiple times on other difficulties
Crackdown - open ended sandbox game that's held my attention for a while. Very fun game
Fight Night Round 3 - takes a while to get the controls down, but once you do it's great fun
Viva Pinata - A 'zoo tycoon' type game where you're a gardener that grows stuff to attract different animals. Made for the kids, but it's a sleeper hit with everybody.
Dead or Alive 4 - Challenging fighting game that favors finece and timing over button mashing
Perfect Dark Zero - Haven't played much, but it seems like it'll be fun.

---> it's up to you as a gamer to pick which games/platform you like best!

* Those who bashes WII, 360, PS3 are NOT real gamers. Maybe they're just fanboys?
Each console has their own good share of games. It all depends on you, you're the one with brain & cash to choose.

For the record:
I've been gaming since Atari and NES days.
Always have good PCs to play good PC games.
I had a PS1 and a PS2, they were awesome.
I currently own a 360 and love GoW, FM2, puzzle fighter, VP, DoA4, Burnout, etc
I'm planning to buy a PS3 when GT5 is released - simply because it's a Sony exclusive content
I'm buying a WII soon to entertain my friends, with fun party games like Rayman Raving Rabbids

#1, I'm a PC game fan, with a computer that can run Supreme commander and Oblivion on near max setting with good FPS (if i don't notice i don't care), so my standers are high.
Then you should not complain about XBOX 360 or PS3, in terms of performance - they beat any PC, by miles. ie.: compare Lost Planet between PC and Xbox 360

#2, this is only about xbox360 games. Please do not post about other console or PC games unless relevant.
It's relevant, since most game publishers nowadays sell cross-platform games (sucks, I know - stay away from EA games perhaps?)

#3, what i'm really intrested in is co-op. A good example would be halo 2, which i found fun playing with a friend but would never touch by myself.
Gears of Wars Co-op is mighty fun - of course, you'd have to get the live gold account to do it
I heard Halo 3 is a lot of fun too, haven't tried co-op yet

#4, -edit- If the PC version is better i'll get that, but if it's close enough i'll go console.
Believe it or not, games on console will always be better than PC (except key/mouse games, ie RTS like C&C3)

#5, I don't like sports games.
ditto

#6, I'm not buying a PS3.
up to you, but it depends on which games you like and which platform is best for that game

I stoped playing gears through co-op when my friend said it was getting boring, and i agreed. I myself was 30 minutes away from saying the same thing. So maybe it's you and your friends who like this type of game and not everyone else. Btw we loved unreal and halo 2.

@#1, consoles do not beat PC performance wise unless the game is not made for the PC.

@#2 this is only about xbox360 games. Please do not post about other console or PC games unless relevant.
This means no comments on games that are not on the console, unless relevant.

@#3, i mostly play with the person in the same room, but later i will look at xbox live.

@#4, some games are indeed better on console such as racing, rpg, flying, and it requires expensive extras for the PC to be at par. But most games that -I- like are better on the PC. I got the console with the intension of playing video games with friends and the fact that i intend to move soon and do not want to bring up the PC until i am settled. Thanks to this thread i am finding new games for the 360 that is making it worth the purchase.

@#6, Well, i -may- get a PS3 but i'm just not ready to sink the extra money on that or trade in the 360/pc.

And once again i'd like to thank everyone here who responded with suggestions on good 360 games, i no longer feel the 360 was a waste of money. (already got bioshock for the PC because it's single player only)
