Well, Im thinking its time to get another game system. My last one was the 1st playstation where the only mod was the plug-in kind into the old style parallel port. Are there any good sites out there that go into detail explaining all the xbox mods available? What are your favorites? I've heard some won't let you play xbox live and xbox live is going to be a must.

Yeah, from what I've read the two don't mix.

A big@$$ harddrive and such would be amazingly nice, but its hard to go without live 🙁
 
you can get mod chips with an on/off switch that will let you revert to the original bios. the hard drive is still an issue though.
 
I'm sure that xbox-scene has details on how to find this information out via serial number. So if you can buy it at a store where you have access to the actual unit they'll sell you (ie Best Buy, Circuit City) and get one with a serial that indicates it has a Samsung drive in it. Of the three that they put in there (Philips, Thompson, Samsung) it is the best of the bunch in longevity and versatility in reading media.
