Xbox woes

Hey,
does anyone have the spec on the dvd drive from the xbox 360? Does anyone know if i can just rip out the faulty dvd drive and use a pc replacement? (i can have one for $39) (seems thats its just a normal sata supply and the small data socket)

The xbox dvd drive has a special firmware that ties it to the xbox it came with. The only way to replace it is to get another xbox drive and flash it with with your unique key. Tedious but doable.

Your best bet is to contact MS about a replacment.
