Can you play games like Madden 07 against each other on live with the different systems?

Yes, but it has to be the same version of the game. However, I don't know if Madden 07 is backwards compatible with 360. If it is, it should be possible, as long as both are playing the regular Xbox version (not 360 vs. Xbox).

My brother plays Halo 2 and Winning Eleven 10 against regular X-box players on Live all the time on his 360.

basically you have to be playing the Xbox version of the game on the 360 to play against other xboxers.
