Yes and no. Yes, it is lower end. It?s a 733 celly with and enhance NVIDIA chip. But you must remember, games can be optimized for only that console. Game developers can make a game so much better knowing what it will be run on. When pc games are made they are made for slower computers too; they aren't optimized for a gigahertz processor and a geforce 3 little on knowing the exact motherboard and how much/what type of ram.

Once that Harddrive and broadband adapter come out for the PS2 it will also have every characteristic of a PC. Add a harddrive to the Gamecube and you've got a PC. They are all basically proprietary PC's driven toward gaming.

The good thing with the Xbox is that now we can see what a pc can realy do when we see a xbox game.

<< 733MHz with 128KB of L2 cache would suggest a mobile Celeron chip running at 133MHz bus. >>

<< Makes me wonder if the games have been developed with 128MB in mind and there are only 64MB on the retail board or perhaps there are two more chips on the backside of the mainboard. >>

Exactly. This argument is 100% pointless. So what if the Xbox IS a PC. Until a PC can play Xbox-only games the argument holds absolutely no weight.

yup all consoles are low end pc's if you think about it. could you program a wordprocessor/os for a supernintendo? sure you could if you really wanted to. my super nintendo even had a floppy disc drive mod thing i got from asia. does it mean anything? not really. btw the xbos o/s has far less overhead then a normal ms os :p as do all other consoles out there.

the main difference is selection of games.. the pc really doesn't have many. i'm a pc gamer btw so don't bash me now. games are also optimized and debugged fully for the console.

Did I just interpret this correctly? Did you just say that the PC doesn't have a great selection of games? THe PC has more games than all consoles combined many times over!!!

huh?? if your saying that a full ms o/s is running on the xbox your mistaken. its stripped as are all console o/s's. dreamcast used wince i think.

quality games? i hope your not including freeware/shareware tetris like games as part of the pc gaming selection. The simple fact is that the console gaming market makes more money then the pc gaming market. hense more developers are willing to go after consoles.
