You're not the only one. If you look at my list of games I bought on xbla, most of them are from the time where most games were $10 or less. There's plenty of games that look interesting, but I'm just not willing to pay an extra $5 for. I'm interested in picking up Limbo, but I think I'll wait for a half off sale.

Don't get me wrong. There's several games WELL worth the $15. Shadow Complex and BF1943 are on the top of that list.

Shadow Complex is sooo sick. Let me throw Trials in there as well. Easily worth it. Amazingly simple & fun. A lot of others are actually worth it lol. $5 to $10 do for strait NES, arcade, etc. ports. I actually bought a few games for about 80 points a piece. Some horrible XBLA community bullshit. Funny/horrible games.....

This years lineup sucks.

I think I'll end up buying all of these games and getting the 1200 points back. I already bought Limbo and HT...plan on picking up Castlevania and Lara Croft game. Not interested in Monday Night Combat, but it will pretty much end up free.

I think this years SOA line up is just as good if not better than last years.

I'm still torn on Castlevania (which is odd as I've been a huge fan of SotN since it originally came out on the PSX). I need to play the demo before I buy.

I'd like to know if that zoomed out view of the map they show in screenshots is the entire game. I'd imagine it is but it makes the game look kind of short. I guess it's hard to tell without playing it.

EDIT: Mixed review from Brad Nicholson over at MTV. Although most of the things he lists in the negative column are aspects I've come to expect from a Castlevania game, for better or for worse.

Castlevania was a garauntee buy for me. I'll probably try the demo first as well. Which is what I did for Limbo and Hydro, and ended up buying both.

I have to agree with you both, and I thought this was gonig to be a garauntee buy. Man, I love the Castlevania series too. The thought of a multiplayer Castlevania had me pretty hyped.. what a disappointment.

Hydro Thunder and Limbo are both terrific though.

I've never been a fan of Castlevania, and it seems like you have to have friends to play it :[ I know only one person getting it for sure, so I'm passing.

Monday night combat seems like it might possibly be fun, but I'd have to try the demo first.

Hydro thunder was well worth the $13 though 🙂

GiantBomb.com's Quick Look for Castlevania: Harmony of Despair made me decide not to purchase the game (as did playing the demo). Too little replay value and just not that interesting in general.

Giant Bomb really needs to change it to Not-So-Quick Look. 18 minutes? Do they play all the way through the game?

On a serious note though, anyone else chime in on this game while I wait for their "Quick Look" to load? I tried the demo, and still just not sure that there's enough meat to this game, but maybe they'll add more later. Multiplayer I think would be fun, and I have a friend that's really into Castlevania that I'd play it with, but I think it might be too easy.

Downloaded Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light last night, and played the demo. It seems really good - I will probably buy it.

Did you play alone or co-op? The game looks fun but I have no friends in to play with really 🙁

I played the demo single player. I'm going to play coop if I can get my wife to play 🙂.

There is no online coop yet, but they are supposedly going to release a patch for that at the end of September.

Just bought this... demo was dope. I also bought this indie game called Lumi by recommendation of ARS, and it's only 400 points, but kinda regretting it. Controls are ridiculously hard.

Lara should be a ton of fun though.

Overall, thought that I was going to buy all arcade games, but Castlevania was a huge dissappointment and with Reach and Black Ops (maybe even MOH) right around the corner, I don't have time to add another 3rd person/1st person to my list of games to play.

Tried the Lara Croft demo last night, it feels alot like Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (not a bad thing). It was alot of fun, I bet it's even better co-op. Only issue is that on Medium difficulty the game is pretty easy. Maybe the difficulty ramps up but if not I'd have to start off on hard at least, I think I took damage maybe once the entire demo.

That said, I'm torn about buying it. I'd like to but at $15 that's a big chunk of change for an XBLA game. I loved Shadow Complex but it takes less than 2 hours to complete and there's little replay value. Guess it'll depend on how long the reviewers say it takes to complete GoL.

And so much for Shadow Complex being the largest XBLA game...
