xbox replacement dvd drive

I have a very early version xbox with a Thompson drive, and after several years of service it's finally crapping out. Super long load times and the like have convinced me to get a new one. I plan on getting a chip and modding it in the near future, so I'm leaning towards a samsung drive. The problem is that every place I've found that sells the drives wants to charge an arm and a leg for one. I know the damn things shouldn't cost that much, so does know where I can pick one up for a reasonable price?
