Here is a long shot:

Anyone know what kind of modchip they install for Xbox in China, more specifically Shanghai.
I plan to buy a xbox in the US and bring it to shanghai and have someone install a modchip. And load up on all the games from there.

But if i can get the modchip in US, i may just install it myself and just buy all the games there.

To answer your question, I haven't heard of anyone getting their xbox modded overseas. I wouldn't think it would be a problem though. It's probably cheaper there.
 
I modded my friend's PS2 with the no-solder modchip and use gameshark discs.

But none of the games/discs i bought from shanghai last summer worked with it. It did work on my other friend's chinatown modded PS2.

 
well you can definetly get a modchip here in the US, i would just get the modchip here and get the games from there

even the old ones dont, all you need is a switch to turn the mod on/off

Fine with all the games I've tried.. Halo, Tony Hawk 4, NFL Fever 2003, MechAssault, and DeathRow. Maybe you should try connecting to a different person. I do know that certain people do lag like hell on there, but thats the same with any online games. You just gotta find the right connection.
 
Related/unrelated news gamegizmo closed their doors forever 🙁 Probably because of pressure from MS.
