I think my TV has the compsoite tv outputs....There is the green and blue outputs in the back of the tv. My tv is not High definition. I noticed that the high defintinion pack has the composite wires. But it says for high definition.. Will this still help my tv get better pic quality, or should I get the AV pack that has the S-video. Also, do these AV packs improve sound also?

if you dont have an HD tv, why would you get the HD AV pack?

also, I was wondering.... how do you guys seperate the wires on the XBOX so that you can use something other then your TV to play sound? The wires are all connected and they dont reach other devices.. OR can you just pull these wires apart

here is what do-- i plug the sound wires into the back of my tv.. and then hook the 'sound out' on my tv up to my reciever... works great without messing up my wires.

oh.. and here is my thought, if the HD wires are only using composite, sure, they'll hook up to your tv-- but your tv isnt designed to take advantage of the signal... my guess is that it wouldnt look any different. (would it even work?)

however with s-video, you are using something that is designed with your TV in mind, and that you know will definetly increase picture quality

No.. it doesnt look like you could easily pull them apart, not on mine at least.

well, minus the sound out on the tv like i use.. i dont know.

and, depending on your reciever, you may be able to hook everything up to it. My reciever has a video in/out as well. so i could hook it up to my reciever for sound, and then run a wire from the receiver to the tv for video.

Or you could use the Optical out on the Advanced/HD AV pack and then just hook the sound to the receiver and the video in on the tv (as well as video in on the receiver). The HD AV pack is just for people who have Component connectors on their tv that is capable of doing 480p or 1080i.

You CAN pull them apart -- it just requires a little skill. Then you can run RCA plugs straight to your receiver. But this isn't the best way to do it. I wrestled with this exact issue for weeks, then discovered the...

BEST OPTION (coincidentally the one I use): Run the S-Video to your TV. Buy an optical digital cable and run from the Advanced AV pack to your receiver. . . get 5.1 sound for movies & video games, crystal clear! (This is assuming, of course, that your receiver has optical IN.) This works much better than running audio out from TV to receiver.

EDIT: The optical digital cable should cost around $10-15.
