A few months back my Xbox quit working and just wouldnt power on. I had read about a few others that had the same problem as I and they said all they did to get it working again was to replace the fuse on the power supply. Today I replaced the fuse and it still wont power on so my question is do you think the power supply is dead altogether or is there a bigger problem within the xbox hardware itself. Im asking this because I dont want to go ahead and get a new PS for my xbox and find out that its not going to solve my problem. I know there isnt anyone thats going to know for sure but if you could give me your opinion on the matter I would appreciate it. Thanks.

i've read numerous posts around about the psu dying on the xbox. Unless i'm mistaken, it's a normal computer psu.

it's too bad you opened the case....now the xbox is indefinitely out of warranty.

The thing broke after 90 days I didnt have an extended warranty. It was either do it myself or take a hit of 200 cdn to get it repaired.

If it's a wall wart, you should find the voltage and current ratings for it written, printed or molded on it. Get a voltmeter and measure what comes out of the connector, and you'll know if it's good.

If you replace it, get one rated to deliver the same voltage and at least as much current. Also, if you have a friend who has one, measure that one to determine whether the outer ring is positive or negative. I've seen them both ways.
