If I buy an XBOX, as I don't want to buy a lot of CDRW (as I hate dealing with them), and I don't want to change the DVD drive becaues it is a pain, if I mod it and have a broadband hookup, would I be able to just copy the games directly to the harddrive straight from my computer?

If so, I'm going out to buy one tomorrow.

Oooooh, sweet. So I only need to burn on CDRW to install BIOS upgrades and software is what I'm taking here.

actually, i belive you cant copy directly because pc-dvd rom drives cant read the xbox disk. i belive you have to network your computer and xbox, and copy the game from the xbox to your computer, then you can burn. someone please correct me if im wrong btw. good luck with your xbox, there is so much stuff u can do to it, im just waiting on the funds to purchase mine :)

Yes, you can network the xbox to your pc, i've seen it done. Works well. Make sure you get the HD partition program tho. Also, make sure you get the older model xbox. Modchips dont work on the new ones yet.

yes you can store games on the HD but that means u gotta upgrade the HD first. the latest version of evox allows you to 'backup' games right onto the HD WITHOUT the need for hooking it up to your PC.

Is there any way to backup Xbox HDD save files to a PC HDD via a network without a modchip?
( I realize this is a longshot ;) )
