Regarding the video card... What would a new video card do for you that your current one cannot?

As for the consoles... Compare the games. Which one of the above three would give you the most gaming time?

(For the record... I own a nice PC, an Xbox, and a PS2. I game on my Xbox about 20:1 compared to the other two.)

But Copying your games to it is a Illegal discussion here because of the DMCA.
Anywho I'd go PS2 because XBoxs have had hdds blow up when they are on (I can vouch for it)

do they actually blow up? wingznut, what do you mean by 20:1? if i upgrade to a newer vc, it would accomodate the new games that will come out soon like hl2 and doom3.

Xbox, no doubt about it. One will slightly enhance your gaming, and the other will open up a new world of gaming to you. It's a no brainer IMO.

Yeah, that's what I meant... Great games such as Project Gotham Racing 2, D&D Heroes, Rainbow Six 3, Crimson Skies, Links 2004, ESPN Hockey, ESPN Football, etc. are the reason.

And in the coming months I'll be playing Halo 2, Ninja Gaiden, Fable, Dead or Alive online, Splinter Cell 2, Silent Hill 4, Full Spectrum Warrior, etc... The list goes on and on.

And to top it all off, I get to play them from the comfort of my living room couch, surrounded by 5.1DD audio. And then if you are lucky enough to have a HDTV... All the more better! :D

VERY well stated.

I'm not saying that you never had an Xbox hd go bad... But to say outright that every Xbox hd will "blow up" is just plain misinformation. I had a PC video card go bad, so I suppose I ought to go preaching not to buy new video cards because they'll go bad.

OWNT!

I actually would go for the video card. Personally i'm not very big into console gamings (i JUST got a nintendo 64.... sad..) so i know for me, my computer is my primary gaming machine.
My roommates own every system. And between ps2 and xbox, have you thought of gamecube? :) I just personally prefer the gamecube to all those systems, but i would probally pick an xbox over ps2 (and in the future the xbox2 over ps3.. rdram? why sony, why!)
I personally find most of the games i like are made for both consoles, and some just for Xbox. Plus Xbox Live is quite entertaining. PS2 just has the least to offer me personally in terms of gaming.

But as i stated before, my top choice would be video card.

Xbox. You're video card is fine. ps2 is not as good as xbox. It has the same games(pretty much) except xbox = better graphics and xbox live.

I'd have to vote Xbox as well. We have PC's, Xbox, and PS2 at my house. We play the PC's and the Xbox about equally, but ever since we got bored of Gran Tourismo 3 (not really all that different from 1 & 2), we have't touched the PS2 anymore. The only really nice thing about the PS2 if you play racing games is that the Logitch PS2 steering wheel works on the PC as well.

Guess what kind of RAM your N64 has. C'mon, I'll give you two guesses. ;) :p

I own a GC, Xbox, PS2, and a nice PC with a 9700 Pro
the GC gets the most play time, followed by PC, then XBox, then PS2 (only for GT-3)

I dont' think you can compare console gaming to pc gaming. There is no way a console game is going to compete with a pc game. Consoles are great for casual playing around, everything is less complicated and you don't have to learn a bunch of keyboard commands or do a lot of setting up. With a console you can just sit down and play. Way back when I got my PS2 my favorite game was Unreal Tournament, but then I got the same game for my pc (until then I hadn't done much pc gaming), since then my PS2 just sits there collecting dust. Bottom line, if you want to play, get a console......if you want to game, get a pc.

Laser or lens, usually.

I'd upgrade my PC, but I wouldn't take my own advice in this matter, seeing as I don't like consoles much :)

You're right. Btw, care to point me in a direction where I can find an excellent online racer (on the PC) in which I can have real time voice chat with the other racers? Maybe one that keeps track of single player stats so that I can compare my times to other people. Downloadable ghosts (where I could see the top racers best races) would be sweet, too.

Hmmm... No can do? Well, how about a top of the line sports title (football/hockey/golf/etc) that also has the same voice chat and where I can set up or join leagues and tournaments online?

Hmmm... Not much there either? Ok, how about an excellent fighting game? I'll even throw you a bone and not require it to be online.

Still nothing??? Hmmm... Got any suggestions for games in which I can invite my friends over and play split screen (either vs. or co-op)?

If you limit youself to only PC's for gaming, then you are missing out on A LOT of great games.

Bleh, sports games are for wimps, I always say, if you can't kill the person you're playing against, the game sucks!

Well, not really ;), but still, aside from sports games, IMO PC's have far superrior games, not to mention superrior controls.
And since Im not interested in sports games(with the possible exception for Speedball, but that was for the Amiga, another computer;) ), that part isn't an issue.

You're right... Some games are better on the PC and some are better on consoles. Why limit yourself to one or the other?

See my first post above for a list of great games coming to the Xbox (many of which include killing people ;) ) that won't be available on the PC. And of course, there are plenty of great games on the PC that aren't available on the Xbox.

But overall, I'd rather spend time on my couch surrounded by 5.1DD audio than sitting at a desk hunched over my (relatively) little 19" monitor. :)
