Looking to get one of these things, but have no idea what a good one is (there are a billion options out there). Hoping somebody uses one and has some feedback?

TIA

yeah thats why I am looking
reading up on the X2VGA now I see the obvious advantage(s)... lets you play in higher resolutions whereas the cheapo boxes are regulated to 480i

Interesting... worth the $40 more though?

I have one that you use component cables on and it'll do HD signals (480p, 720p, etc.). It works good, but I don't need it or use it anymore.

I'd definitely be willing to get rid of it.

PM me if you want more info, pics, or anything.

I've been pondering this also. My 42" plasma only supports 780p through the PC input, so I've been wondering if using the X2VGA (or similar) and plugging that into the PC Input would allow for 780p. Currently though, the Xbox isn't connected to the plasma, so it's really not that important to me.

Is playing xbox in higher resolutions, albeit on your PC monitor, worth $40 extra? For me, I wouldn't use it for my monitor. But if it was going to be hooked up to the plasma at all (or most of) the time, then I'd go for it.

Edit: I have the MS HD AV Pack, but if I set the xbox to 780, then I get garbage on the screen. And 480p doesn't look any better than normal, even with the composite cables. (Atleast to me).

I use the one from vdigi. It was cheaper than x2vga when I bought it.(total cost about $55 IIRC) and it works well. It also supports PS2 but I have used only with xbox.

The newer Xboxes have a new video chip in them that casts a purple tint if you use them with older X2VGA boxes. Anyway, I have one of the older ones. I don't use it either because I bought a HDTV. I want to get rid of it though. Looks jaw dropping if you play 720 or 1080 games on a monitor.

Im correct that you dont need the HD pack on this as it pulls directly from the xbox right?

nope

btw I just sold my x2vga + box and it is a differance between night and day using it vs analog tv or a tv tuner card. the colors just pop off the screen and are crisp like your computer graphics (some of them depends on the game).
