XBOX One worth getting?

I'm a PC master race since I was 0 years old now I want to play console because my back is killing me. I'm wondering if I should get the XBOX one or not. How come theirs so many Xbox one versions? which one is the basic one that can play all games? What are the differences? Why is PS4 soooo much cheaper? Sony shit?

It's the same as PC. If the games interest you, get that console.

I prefer the older generations of consoles over the newer. The PS3/360 era are the most recent consoles I own because there haven't been any games that have made me want to buy the new consoles. Oddly enough, my PS2 still gets more use than my PS3 if you don't count the blu-ray movies I watch on my PS3.

Sony is introducing new models of the PS4 like a slim and a super powered version. The base model is probably coming down in price because of that.

I haven't followed along but I think this is what's happening. As for the OP's question just get the Xbox One S if you want to get one now. It's the latest version with the redesigned controller, HDR support and a UHD Disc Player(albeit it's a very limited disc player).

All of the Xbox One versions will play all of the games compatible with Xbox One.

Most of the exclusive games coming out for Xbox One will also be available on PC, so if you want to stick with PC, you can just try hooking your PC up to a TV or getting a Steam Link to stream it from your PC to the TV.

If you don't want to bother with all that, then as said above, look at the exclusive games that are coming to Xbox vs. Playstation.

Xbox One has backwards compatibility for some Xbox 360 games
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_360_games_compatible_with_Xbox_One

Beyond that Xbox has got games like the Halo series, the Gears of War series, Ryse Son of Rome, Recore, Quantum Break, Scalebound, Crackdown, State of Decay, Dead Rising 4, the Forza Series

Playstation has got games like the Uncharted series, Last of Us, The Order 1886, Bloodborne, The God of War Series, Horizon Zero Dawn, Killzone Shadowfall, Infamous Second Son, The upcoming Spiderman game, Days Gone and Japanese games coming out of the wazoo.

Basically Playstation is going to have more exclusives and many of the Xbox console exclusives will aslo be available for the PC.

1. Follow the games - most important
2. In most cases, non-exclusive games run better on PS4
3. HDR on Xbone S is poor since it doesn't support wide color gamut
4. Microsoft announced that all future first-party titles (Halo, etc.) would be for PC and Xbone, so there won't be very many Xbone exclusives

I play a lot of PC games in a recliner with an Xbox One controller. Just another idea you might try.

I didn't know about number 3? This is confirmed?

Just buy the PS4 and be done. better games, better gaming machine. I like my Xbox One well enough but the PS4 has the better games IMO.

Sadly yes, Microsoft confirmed it before release. Note: it is only lacking WCG in games. UHD Blu-ray supports HDR w/WCG.

Oh lol I thought you meant at all. I was like WHAT?! Heh. Thanks for clarifying that. Still I wish games did wcg.

I expect the PS4 pro will be the same.

It really depends what you want out of a console. If you play PC games with a half decent PC, the "PS4 looks better than Xbox" argument is pretty worthless, as both look poor compared to PC. If you want to play specific games, look at which has a larger community online (PS4 wins a lot of these) and if you want exclusives, look it up as well. If you want to play Fifa, Xbox One is the only way to go if you're playing FUT. The inclusion of legends is much better.

If you're going to use it for the apps (HBO Now, Netflix, WWE), they are mostly garbage. I haven't tried the PS4 versions, but I'm guessing those are just as bad.

Kind of off subject, but holy shit I just updated my Xbox One last night so I could grab the FH3 demo, and it's like MS is trying to ruin the dashboard more and more with every update of the software. Every time I use it after an update it's more of a clusterfuck than it previously was. There is absolutely no organization or rhyme or reason to the design of the dashboard. It's kind of sad that the best Xbox dashboard was probably the "blades" one on the Xbox 360, which I believe was their very first one.

I bought an Xbox One S because I was bored. I got the madden 2017 1tb bundle, added a 1tb SSD via USB3 because why not? Ironically, I found myself replaying many of my Xbox 360 games on it. Oh, and Recore, except I can also play that on my PC. If $$$ is no problem then get the One S. I did. I do like the BT controller for all my mobile devices. But, you can buy that separately.

This user doesn't have a console so no old games, so i dont think backwards compatible is an issue (but there are some great old games). Right now the bone and PS4 are a waste in my opinion, there simply is nothing system seller for either this gen. Some games are good, but nothing great. Not to say they will not be coming. I have both and as this user stated, i use my Playstation Plus ($99 a year) more then anything (old games) so that would be something I would look at as he stated, but not having the old games in disc form the PS4 might have the edge as its a single price, instead of picking them up.. I wont judge which would be best. been alot of Hype on the S (it and the old bone have outsold the ps4 for 2 months out of 20.. but one must remember new hardware (or franchise game) does that, last gen the ps3 slim outsold the 360 when it was released for almost 4 months.. thats not really saying anything) and the lowest console sale month are end of summer, fall as people expect big price drops for holiday shopping. Since we cant get real numbers who knows whats happening. Now if you want HDMI disc playback, and its a big deal please read up, it appears the S has the edge But i would do some heavy reading. I have always thought it got down to the games (as most here mention). And they all mentioned you can pretty much play your PC on the couch with a Xbox controller or PS one too now. Of course that depends on location of PC and such also. That one i think is easy, most prefer the xbox controller (im an odd one on that i grew up on the psone and pstwo so prefer that layout, but if you are not ancient like me you will most likely prefer the xbox one).

if it was me, hit the for sale forum here, pick up an older pc for $200 and hook it to your tv.. Steam (or origin, gog) and play away.

The thing to remember when figuring sales, specifically with the xb1s is many people bought it solely to do uhd playback but hen realized it didn't have certain features they wanted and now there are problems displaying hdr from it on certain tv models. On other forums there are many people returning them. Not to say that everyone is returning it but it's probably a decent number. That isn't figured into the sales numbers. Then the fact that people know there is a PS4 pro coming. Who wants to buy old hardware when in two months the newer and better one releases? Plus there will be more PS4 exclusives in the coming months. I think after the oct-feb releases are out it would be a more fair evaluation of how each console has sold so far. The Xbox had a few console exclusive games launch just recently that also helps boost sales. Don't forget too that almost every xb1s has some type of bundle. The PS4 doesn't have as many deals out there by comparison.

, there simply is nothing system seller for either this gen.

Uncharted 4. Specifically why I bought my PS4.

I bought the XBONE when they announced backwards compatibility. I never owned a 360 but I wanted to play the Gears of War and Halo games.

I have been told the Forza series is now better than the Gran Turismo series. And since Microsoft seems to be releasing most of their titles for Windows anyway, it looks like the PS4 just isnt as Special any more. Maybe for the newer Final Fantasy games, but I dont care for them.

I guess it depends on the individual, there are a bunch of titles that will never see an Xbox or PC release(some JRPGS, some 1st party titles). So for someone like me who has a PC and can just pickup the MS games I want to have that way, I still want to have a PS4 for the rest of the games I want to play that don't get a release elsewhere. For me that's where MS messed up. I don't need an XB1 anymore, I can play the games on PC. I'd probably have purchased an XB1S if this was not the case.

I don't personally care for either UIs. On the PS side, at least for the 3 it was a little more functional, can probably say same thing about the 360 too compared to what they are not putting out.

Final Fantasy games come out on XBONE too. Now that Square publishes Western games as well, I think they know they need to saturate the market.

Persona 5 which may end up being a bigger deal than Final Fantasy XV is only coming to PS3 and PS4 though.
