Bought the adapter yesterday along with a One controller.

It works well, except with Telltale games, but that is squarely on Telltale for still using DirectInput and not XInput.

Anyone figure out how to determine the battery life of the Xbox One controller when using this adapter on Windows 10?

When your controller dies, the battery is dead. Windows doesn't offer any battery readings.

Got my Elite controller, found it too damn heavy with AA Alkaline batteries inside. I could use lighter lithium batteries but Microsoft's warning about only using Alkaline batteries keeps me from using them. So even though I have a wireless adapter I'm back to the micro-usb cable for comfort. First world problems :p

It did for the x360 wireless controller. Both a software battery level indicator when you pressed the Home button, and a hardware one where the green ring would (annoyingly) circle on the controller when battery life hit 50%. Surely they could do either for the XOne controller. boo

I appreciate the extra weight, makes it feel a little better in the quality department.

I have/had a cheap Chinese made table clock which had a piece of steel glued inside the plastic case so that if feels heavy and of high(er) quality.

Yeah but luckily the elite controller is actually metal construction in a lot of areas and not plastic.
