Hi all,

I currently own an xbox 360 and use the windows media center all the time to connect to my PC to watch my videos stored on there.

I am looking at getting an xbox one soon, but have seen conflicting reports as to whether I can watch my video files stored on my PC onto an xbox one anymore.

Is this still possible, whereby you connect to the center and browse through files and choose what to watch from the xbox one screen? I have seen people click on a video file on their PC to play to an xbox one but as my PC is downstairs and my xbox would be upstairs it would be a bit annoying keep going downstairs to change videos.

Last I read, no, still not a direct DNLA/Extender client, you can only use PlayReady which means you have to feed the file to the Xbone.

Some people are using third party apps to connect to their PCs and load stuff to the Xbone, but accessing the files directly through the Xbone is still not an option.

Possibly with a future update.

Thanks for reply. I think I will just hold fire for a bit then and continue to use the 360 until hopefully they add it in an update.

Thanks again,

I stream my stuff from the PC to my smart TV I'm tired of waiting on Microsoft to add that

I am eagerly awaiting this functionality - I really thought this was a great selling point on the 360, it is a shame they didn't have it working out of the box on the One....

Have you used a DLNA push service? It isn't the same as having a media browser directly from the console, but it's not a terrible solution IMO. You can use your tablet or smartphone to push media from a DLNA media server on your PC to your Xbox One.
