yeah the people crying about the power brick are pretty funny because it is really a non-issue for most people who will hide it on the ground somewhere behind their entertainment stand.

It actually is a mild annoyance for me with the 360 as my cabinet is rather compact and kind of retro, so the space is minimal. Definitely not a deal breaker as I just needed to manage everything in behind a lot better, but would I prefer not to have it? Most definitely.

Great use of my name lol Back to the topic - everyone is bemoaning this huge power brick...which will probably be on the floor behind your TV stand where NO ONE can see it. It's a non-issue, just like the 360 was.

Except I don't use my console in my living room. Now, I'll totally concede that the majority does... but I game in my home office at my desk and I've come across plenty of others who do, too. So this metric ton of lead needs to be reasonable in size. And if the power brick is anything like the 360's, the two cords coming out of it are sized such that you can't put it on the floor. It needs to sit on the desk with the 360... very awkwardly, I might add

Again I know it's a minority circumstance, but it sucks for those of us who are impacted by both the brick and the size of the console (though I can deal with the latter, somewhat - the brick is the real problem for me). This is also why shoving the Kinect down my throat bothers me. I have no use for it at my desk. I couldn't use it even if I wanted to (which I don't ).

Seriously if it weren't for Forza and Titanfall ...

I would prefer not having one, but it's not a huge deal. I use one of those open, tempered glass shelf TV stands. So, I just slip the power brick underneath the bottom glass shelf. All you see is the power cable coming from my UPS and going underneath the shelf (the UPS is on the other side compared to the X1) and then the other cable popping out near the X1.

It's an annoyance if you move your console frequently. I ended up buying a second brick because I got tired of having to dig it out from the back of the entertainment system every time I wanted to hook up my Xbox to my monitor.

The days of monstrous entertainment cabinets are gone. Living rooms are looking more and more sleek and less clutter is a pretty common goal. Then there's the crowd who's not using the console in the living room at all, but somewhere else entirely. Thinking a console would only be placed in one type of situation is kind of narrow minded.

Of course the person who made the "crying" comment also stated his would be tucked away in an A/V closet completely out of sight. I guess if you're not doing it that way then you're doing it patently wrong and have no business buying the thing

I don't think pur's comment was meant like you have no business buying it, but why change the design to cater to the minority when it suits the majority just fine? They can't make everything to everyone's liking. For it to sit stationary in a TV cabinet is probably where 97% of consoles have lived and will live.

I've hated power bricks on several occasions. Namely when one side is too short to reach from the ground to the system, and the other side is too short to reach the outlet if the brick is resting at a height, and the 10 lb brick ends up dangling by the cord...

But nobody has a right to complain about power bricks until they've had a functional Sega CD 32X :awe:

Yeah I use that type of A/V Rack myself. I have 5 shelves if you count the top that holds my center channel speaker under my TV which is mounted to the wall. My XB1 is next, then PS4, Cable Box, and AVR. I can hide the brick easily enough but looking at how much room my PS4 leaves is kind of crazy.

My av center is flush to wall with the back of it hidden under some stairs, so a power brick does not matter to me at all. I would almost rather have one too take heat away from the unit.

For those with exposed setups a power brick is a bit uglier and annoying to hide, but I would never buy or not based on it.

This is like the tv thickness argument. A tv that is 2-3cm isn't going to make much of a difference as it's hanging on the wall. My current plasma is about 10-13cm thick?

A lot of people spend the time to route wires through the walls and such so that nothing shows. No hanging ball of wires etc. Having a power brick makes it a bit harder to achieve a clean look.

No wonder it is so damn big. You could fit a cat in there. As a ps4 buyer I do worry a bit if it went too far to the other extreme, though. That Xbox can is frickin huge.

Eh, the PS3 fat models were surprisingly jam-packed inside, not too dislike the PS4. Aside from some of the very earliest PS3 units having a higher failure rate (sort of expected), Sony nailed it. I'm not worried about the PS4.

Yeah, I don't have room for it behind my entertainment center because of all the other wires and crap from other devices I have to deal with, including the 360 and Wii U power bricks.

I much prefer the approach Sony takes. The people crying about people crying about (you read that correctly) power bricks are pretty funny, because they won't just admit that having no power bricks works better for more people (pretty much everyone) than having power bricks.

Why is it so big? There's nothing but empty space in there. If the 360's problem was a design flaw and they fixed it in later revisions, why is this thing so uselessly monstrous?
