@darkswordsman17 Ah, that makes a bit of sense, thanks for the info! I would be interested in a deeper dive of comparing Steam, PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One streaming quality, latency, and overall functionality.

So I pulled a muscle in my back a few days ago and have not been able to sit down for very long. While icing it and taking it easy, I got the chance to recover and play some Destiny with 5 other XBL friends all through my laptop. It worked beautifully. Nobody could tell I was streaming!

I wish I could create a push-to-talk key when playing, as my laptop mic seemed to pick up every little noise. I ended up keeping the controller wirelessly connected to Xbox with its mic plugged in to keep chat simple.

Anyone know if Xbox streaming will come to Android and iOS? I am guessing no... I am assuming this feature will be Windows only for awhile.

They need to figure that out ASAP. I don't see much benefit from it otherwise.
its what you do when you are behind in this gen console wars, gimics They just need to do what they did last gen, buy alot of exclusives, pump up the game count that you cant get on other platforms.

Tested this out over the weekend. When you're playing the game on your computer it is also showing the game on the tv. So it's really just like a mirror to another monitor/device. My Xbox was connected over wireless N across my apt and my desktop is on a gigabit Ethernet connection.

Definitely saw some degradation in image quality that I'd almost relate to stretching a 720 image across a 1080 screen. Wasn't terrible but I could see it. Noticed just a slight bit of lag almost like the controls were barely behind what they should be. Would be easy to adjust.

Also if I'm not mistaken there isn't a way to stream it across the Internet. You have to be on the local network. I'm sure someone will find a way around it (Vpn maybe).

All in all its a great new feature and i see myself using it on occasion. The biggest benefit for me is I have dual monitors on my system so I can throw this up on one screen and work off another while sitting in my office. Don't have to juggle a laptop and controller as much now.

Here's to hoping rev 2 is that much more polished.

Actually got upgraded to Windows 10 and tried out a few Fifa matches streaming to the PC. It works great. I don't notice any input lag or response delays at all. I notice a bit fidelity decrease, but that could be due to my super high res monitor (I run 3440x1440 and it stretches to the top). The best thing about it is ease of multitasking (alt tab away from a real PC) and ability to use my headphones while playing.

Quick Q... is this a gold members only thing? I already have a ps4 but the xbox is sounding more useful all the time, I just don't want to get XBL gold if I don't have to.

No you can stream on your own network regardless of your Xbox live status.

Just tried this after updating my AW17 to Win10. I tried it over 100mbps LAN and it never used more than 12.5mbps of bandwidth.

The responsiveness is pretty good but you can definitely notice a loss of graphic fidelity in high speed stuff. Overall it was worth setting up and trying.

BTW - I used my old hardwired Xbox 360 controller to play and it worked just fine.

I thought I read somewhere that the Xbox One Glass App (or whatever it's called on iPhone) is / was getting updated to be able to turn on your Xbox after they've been paired... I was not able to do this in Win10.

I noticed the option on my SmartGlass app but it didn't work... just says failed to turn on. Hopefully they fix that because it would make the feature that much better! I was able to turn off the Xbox while playing it from Win10.

It works for my Xbox One with the SmartGlass Beta app on my Lumia 920. I just set it up to test it. The console didn't show up on the app at first, so I turned the console on, set it to connect automatically, turned the console off with the app, then was able to turn it on with it. You might try doing that (turning it off with the app first).

What is really missing from the windows 10 app is the one guide. The app on my iPhone has the one guide available when I have the TV app on the Xbox.

Having an odd issue with streaming. My XB1 connects to a switch by ethernet cable in the living room. The a router is setup as a wireless extender and I connect to it with my laptop. Have zero problems streaming to the laptop.

My desktop sits in the office and connects to the main wifi router in the house by ethernet. I can connect and control the XB1 on the desktop, but not able to stream.

Quick and dirty diagram.

Are you getting any kind of error when trying to stream? Does the Xbox app on Windows connect to the Xbox?

Ugh... So, streaming the console on the PC works great, but the "Cast To" feature is broken now. I continuously get "Device is not responding" BS message.

edit: Had to rename my xbox and reenable streaming... That is a pain.

I came across that a couple days ago, doesn't work for me- I only get high/medium/low.

You must be doing it wrong. Make sure you edit it in notepad, then save the file, then all you should need to do is restart the xbox app.

I wish Windows had an Xbone OS that just let you buy the games and put it in your PC's disc drive. If Microsoft takes a loss on the console hardware, so much the better for us both. I want the exclusives, but I already have a good piece of hardware. Pointless to invest in another, weaker one.

Will never happen. They want Xbox to be successful as a platform not software.

No I did it correctly and it didn't work for me either. I had to delete the file, try streaming and then open the file again once the new one was created.

Just tried the Very High setting trick.. it didn't work at first, I ended up searching for the userconsole file on my C drive and tried a different one... seemed to do the trick! It still only capped out at 14.5mbps though, a 2mbps increase. I might have to try a different game.

Killer Instinct used about 15Mbps or something. I noticed a lot of input lag for that game though, expected as it's a fighting game.

I just played around trying to max out my bandwidth and I got it to go just over 18mbps. More importantly, I didn't notice the graphic fidelity loss on high speed scenes like I did before... that extra little bit helps I think.
