XBox One steering wheel

My son turns 12 soon so I was wondering if there were some good steering wheels available. I'm not looking to spend anywhere near $200 unless I have to.

He plays on a couch like chair. Not at a desk so that's issue number one. If there is one that is made to have the wheel rest on your lap or be floor standing somehow, that would be great!

Good discussion here:

Info:
High end is Fanatec. These things run $800 though. You buy the peddles, wheel and wheel base separately. Supposed to be high quality.

Consumers generally have the option of a Thurstmaster in the $80 to $400 range. it gets pricier though. $200 seems to be a reasonable pricepoint for something decent.

Another company is Mad Catz. Similar story as Thrustmaster with different pros and cons.

Thrustmaster is supposed to have smoother operation (less clunky as you turn the wheel) and overall it is a better experience. BUT they tend to be more cheaply made and stories of DOA are not uncommon. Sometimes bugs have to be worked out. Sometimes they stop working after a few days of use. Mad Catz seems to be more reliable but less enjoyable. Fanatic is supposed to be spot on though if you can afford it.

Forece feedback on lower cost wheels in combination with cheap construction can cause issues long term. FFB motors are pretty powerful from what I read.

------------
Thurstmaster TX models seem to be the best bang for buck unless you go to a much higher priced model. But you are looking at $300+. Quality issues are overstated online possibly:

WtF, how old are YOU?!

I think that's a question about how your son plays though. Playing from a chair might not be great for a wheel with pedals, though you could probably get one of the TV tray deals that slides under the chair to set the wheel on. I'm been contemplating a wheel for Forza as well, but I have a lot of other things to consider first.
