I'm an adult with no kids and generally wash my hands before using the controller. I've got two original XBox One controllers I got with my Xbox One two years ago. They work fine. I've got a Razer XBox 360 controller, works fine. All 3 of those got reasonably heavy usage.

Half the buttons on my 3 month old Xbox One S stick and it's had very little usage. In fact it seems to have gotten worse while sitting on the desk unused. I see other reports of buttons sticking right out of the box. Curious what other people's feedback is.

Depends on how much sticky. I've had someone spill something sticky on my controller without my knowledge. Got stickier when it would just sit. Eventually I took a fine toothbrush and cleaned up the controller.

Why not just pop off the front plate of your controller and wash it along with all the buttons in some warm dish soap water. its super easy and only held together by clips and a couple screws.there are a bunch of videos on youtube on how to do this and its next to impossible to screw anything up.Fixed my left thumb stick from drifting this way. fount out there was a tiny piece of paper that got in under the face plate causing this issue. now works like a charm!!

I'm sure it's not somebody else spilling on it as I live alone. I haven't taken the plate off to clean it as I don't think it's a matter of something being spilled on it. Quit playing because buttons are sticking too much to use. A few days later, pick up the controller and the buttons are fine. For a few hours. Then they stick again.

I had two xb1s controllers where the x,y,a,b buttons when pressed would occasionally seem to get caught against the sharp edges on the button cutout. Of course I cleaned it the button with a microfiber cloth then used a piece of paper slid against the button and button hole to scrape anything out. It still would occasionally get caught.

It wasn't until I used car spray wax on it that the button slides with no issues. No need to go nuts, just soak that piece of paper with spray wax and I left it wedged. No need to wipe, I just let it dry.
