I doubt its a hardware problem, since nVidia would never ship crap......

so I guess Winblows is at it again.....

if M$ is lucky, they might patch it enough to work at launch time....

I don't think they have time to patch it up...release date is too close and if they push it back any further, well, they are going to be SOL.

Personally, I thought this whole x-box deal was a bad idea to begin with. But I dunno, might turn out ok, but it just seems like MS should stick w/ PC software, etc, and leave the gaming consoles to Nintendo, who so far has been the most reliable and most successful gaming company.

Microsoft's problem is going to getting the X-box right the first time. Imagine people buying an X-box and it having buggy software. LOL! No more releasing software out that doesn't work properly out of the box!

That quiet sound you hear is the sound of one million people sliding the Suse 7.3 Live Evaluation CD in the X-Box CD drive.

That loud sound you hear is the sound of one million people snickering as the X-Box "console" boots Linux!

I know some people were concerned it was heating issues in the display cases but that would be unlikely to cause sound stuttering. If a normal PC is any indication it will either work perfectly or crash (possibly with visual artifacts if vid chip is getting busted up). This just seems like bad hardware or software, but of course I don't really know...

Who knows what is causing these particular problems, but the initial "official" XBox delay was due to manufacturing problems which Micro$oft won't give specifics about. BUT ... contract manufacturer Solectron was given a huge contract by MS for "repair work" on XBox consoles; consoles that hadn't even been completed or shipped and they needed repair? The "word" is that what actually happened is that Solectron was contracted to go in and fix the manufacturing problems at Flextronics, who is the actual official contract manufacturer for the XBox. Hard drive problems too, additional suppliers brought on for that.
