Unfortunately whatever the next Xbox console will be is the first console in my life (turn 44 in November) that I literally have zero interest in. I am wishing I didn't cave to FOMO with the XSX at launch. I literally have not bought 1 game for XSX since it came out. The only 3 games I bought "for" it were X1 games that I got before it came out - Gears 5, Halo 6, and Doom Eternal. Gears 5 was great aside from the open world crap, I didn't really like Doom, and Halo 6 is still sealed.
Now that Gears is going to be on Playstation console I can just get it for that, if/when the new one ever comes out.
I do use my XSX though for watching stuff. I use it for Amazon Prime and XBMC. So I guess there is that.

I loaded up 2+ years of XBL to get my account with 3 years loaded on it, and converted all that time to GPU for $1 back when they were running that promotion. That time runs out in March 2026. While it was nice to play a few games here and there, I used it enough to justify what I paid for it (less than $10 per month), but at $30 per month they've lost me as a source of revenue. However, I don't regret my XSX purchase, as I had a large catalog of purchased games from XB, XB360, and XB1, which all load and play much better on XSX. I am a big fan of Forza and Gears, but since those aren't exclusives anymore, I'll get them on PC going forward. Speaking of PC, I do like the play anywhere feature for purchased games, so I'll likely keep getting Forza and Gears games on XBox as long as they keep that feature, but I'm not willing to pay twice for PC and XBox copies of a game. Finally, I hope the rumors are true and they don't paywall cloud backups for game save files or Online multiplayer. If they do either of those things, I'm completely out of the XBox ecosystem.
For similar reasons, I'm likely out of the Playstation ecosystem. I'm not willing to keep a PSN subscription just for cloud game save file backups, and I'm unwilling to pay for Online multiplayer too. There are some games I like to play from the couch Online, mainly racing games, but I'll invest in fiber HDMI from my PC before I'll pay for Online multiplayer now that the exclusives aren't exclusive to each platform (for the most part) anymore.
Edit: At the end of the day, PC storefronts and Nintendo have gotten and will continue to get most of my gaming dollars. The XSX and PS5 are great from a quality of life standpoint for my catalog of games that I've amassed over the years, but I've probably bought about 5-10 games on each platform, and pretty much only buy at a deep discount at that.
