I have a 2.3B Lite (non-plus) - the soldering wasn't super bad and things have worked flawlessly ever since. I concur with the XBox scene recommendation - I read and learned a LOT from that site.

So is the Xecuter still the "best" so to speak? I had a 2.2+ on my old one before I sold it, I have a 1.5 now. The XBIT any good?

I had an Xbit and it was a bitch to get flashed and installed. The tech support sucks for that thing too.

Get the Xecuter 2.3B Lite+ That's the chip I switched to, and it took less than 5 minutes to install and flash. There are tons of people with that chip, and you'll get it troubleshooted very quickly.

You might want to wait for the Xecuter3, its part of the new generation of modchips with an OS on them. I personally use the Xenium and like it so far. But honestly if you dont care about the OS then just get the 2.3b.

http://www.xbox-scene.com/ is a good place to start

thanks for the info.

I can play backup and import games with this chip right?

Yes, you sure can.

I personally wouldn't bother waiting for the X3. IIRC team x-excuter said they have already done everything they can with 2.3 -- x3 is more for fun, adding a couple of extras that aren't really needed

Which one uses the spring-loaded pins, instead of solder points? A friend of mine picked it up: all he had to do was screw it down onto the board in the proper spot. Sounds rather ideal for a lazy guy like me. :p

when is that coming out?

According to the info? When it's done, which is sometime between now and they stop making Xboxs. (I believe it was supposed to be out early this year, they announced in Dec03)

The pogo pin installs come loose pretty often, its best just to solder the things.

I have had 4 different types of chips... the best one that I have had to date is the Xenium, thier new OS is "supposed" to be out soon...

1) Don't use pogo pins.. They suck
2) If you don't plan on getting on "Live" don't even buy a modchip, flash the TSOP instead. (saves ya $30)

If you go to Xbox Scene and look up there FAQ on 'Which mod chip is best' they will tell you to never ask the question because there's as many answers as there are chips.

I use the 2.3b Lite though if it matters.

I've never had a pogo pin one come loose on my old one nor any of my friend's. I actually just ordered a 2.3B Lite+ for my 1.5 - if it comes loose I'll mention it but I don't expect any problems.

yuki - dood look it up. The Xecuter chips with the + Lite are pogo, the non Lite's are solder. www.the-console-corner.com -> XBox - take a look at which ones are and which ones aren't.

All the modchip sites are blocked from here. That, and the only one I really knew of was Xbox-Scene. :p

Groovy. Now I just hope my XBox isn't a 1.6....

Got it from freevideogames.com, so I have no idea when it was made. I got it about 1½~2 months ago. The packaging was pretty new though; one of the screenshots it had on the back was for Halo 2, among other not-so-encouraging signs.

I'm fairly sure that only the special Halo edition X-box's are 1.6 . The other newest ones are 1.5 (from what I read anyways)

Halo edition XBoxes are 1.2, according to Xbox-Scene. (the clear green ones that is)
