Xbox mod question

hey guys,
i have a reg old xbox that i had gotten modded by my friend to a Xecuter 2.3b lite plus. well the mobo somehow screwed up and fried. then i got a new mobo and my friend softmodded it for me. now the softmod is screwed, i got the chip, tried it but wont work, so now i want to softmod it myself, question is, how do i softmod it ?
