Xbox media center image

So I have an onl Xbox sitting around that would do great as a media extender. I looked for instructions on installing XBMC and it turns out you need mech assult and action replay to do the mod. Given that all you are trying to do is modify the contents of the hdd, how come no one has simply created an image of a completed mod? It would be infinately easier to just unplug the hdd, load the image and then power up. Is there some sort of MS validation at work or am I just not finding the image. I've searched google and RS for such an image and it's not even mentioned on forums. Does anyone know if this exists and if so where?

It wouldn't be legal to distribute the image.
Also, every xbox harddrive is locked with its own code that might be unique per system, so it might not be possible to do a 1 size fits all image. Actually, that's wrong, because I've created an image for my friend before.
