XBOX Live - will it work with 384/128?

I ask because locally my only broadband solution is cable and I can pick from the 384/128 package, or the 2mbps/128 package. Clearly the latter would allow for quicker download of popups, spam, and filth, but how would the latter compare to the former in gaming? Although the download speed of 2mbps is clearly a lot quicker than 384, both share the same upload, and I wonder if anybody here has any real numbers or personal experience switching from a low to a higher speed BB connection for gaming?

That should work fine. My friend downloads and uploads stuff all the time and can still play xbox live without issue.

I've used 512 and 1.5 on XBL both, and to be honest I couldn't tell much of a difference. My friend has 256 and it works fine for him too. Of course, I'd opt for the 2mbps connection, that is sweetness. 🙂

256 download and XBL works fine? That is nice...does he play large games? I had a 1mbps/128 DSL connection at the apartment and found that although games like mech assault were good, even up to 8 people, wolfenstein 3d was all but unplayable with anymore than about 1-2 other people!

He only plays sports games so I can't comment on how it'd work with those type games.

Heh, I don't play games without either racing in them or preferably people dying (the more the merrier).

You are more concerned with upload speed. Size of game doesn't matter. Since most games theoretically work on a dialup (in a controlled enviro anyway), most any broadband will work. The amount of data being sent back and forth isn't all that much. If you use a headset, you are adding a bit more info going back and forth, but nothing the slower plan couldn't handle.
