A friend gave me his Xbox, and I want to play Xbox live. I am most likely getting a 360 somewhere down the line. Will I be able to use that subscription on the 360 also? 😱
 
Yes, you can convert an original Xbox Live subscription over to the 360, but I don't think it works the other way. I'm pretty sure MS warns you of this too.
