XBL is still the ultimate online experience, especially in consoles. When you guys start your SSBB thread trying to exchange Wii friend codes or when the PS3 starts getting more popular and you're IM'ing all of your friends or popping in different discs to figure out what they're playing maybe you'll appreciate XBL's unified friend list and mandatory voice chat support.

Nobody in here has made a better argument for Live than this man right here.

I don't know why this has come as a shock to anyone. Let's look at this from another angle. What if XBL was never released for free?

Remember when XBL was a mandatory $50. There was no 'silver' account. Granted, the service is a lot more then than what it used to be. Microsoft said from the launch of the 360 that there will be more separation of gold and silver users in the future...

I've had Live since it launched with the original Xbox. So, I'm well aware of what it offers and what it doesn't offer. MS offered Silver members the ability to download new demos and content immediately. A one-week delay isn't that big of deal but for them to take away something that has been available for the last two years and tell Silver members that isn't done to to annoy Silver members but to be a benefit of Gold members is just bad PR.

You don't take something away (even if it is just a delay) and make it a benefit for someone else and not expect some bad-mouthing.
