They'll make a switch eventually so you can quickly switch between firmwares. I'll be able to download games to my hard drive and still play on XBL just like I did on my original Xbox.

That sucks, but then again I think the entire Xbox Live system is pretty much evil. All of the commotion recently with charging for what was originally free, new content and having players purchasing content that was already on the disc seems pretty lame. I think it's a nice idea, but one can sense a lot of greed. They have every right to charge whatever they want, but they're breeding dissatisfaction with some of their business practices.

This was a totally expected and rational move though. Did they just ban your account or your IP address? Can you use a non-modded 360 to log in? Whatever, even an IP ban is almost expected.

I havent been on Live in a few days. I dont really care that much as i barely played games on live. I just like to download the stuff from there. They lose my money, their loss not mine.

Welcome to the world of Microsoft. Seriously why should Microsoft have control over the multiplayer aspect of the Xbox, why can't it be free like PC and people can host their own servers for their games?
Microsoft has nor right to prevent othres from playing multiplayer games, and these people are paying money too!! Tsst Tsst Tsst.

Quick questions (I don't have an xbox360 but am curious):
1. After logging in and being found out, are modded boxes banned just from Xbox Live or do they get bricked, not letting you play any games at all?
2. Do you need to use xbox live to get firmware and software updates or can a non subscriber (without ever entering personal information) get the updates?

1) not bricked no. You can still play offline no problem. Fine by me
2) yes firmware comes from xbox live.
