Do I have to give MS any info or Credit card number?
If I buy the kit at the store does it only require the ID # to connect?
When the 1 year subscription expires do I need to give them my Credit Card?
Do I hook my cable directly into it or do I have to pass thru the cable modem first?

Yes they need a credit card. Yes you have to connect to a network cable from your modem (or router).

If you could plug your cable right into it wouldn't that be skipping the high speed internet you have? You can either use internet connection sharing (I do), or you can use a router, or you can go directly from your dsl/cable modem into the xbox.

And yep you gotta give a credit card up front and they will bill it after 12 months if you don't cancel.
