UPDATE: Xbox.com support page is showing the following message:

Status:

Up and running.

Users may experience intermittent issues posting TrueSkill statistics on Halo3. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++=

Link - begin gnashing of teeth and angry fist shaking.

On Monday, 9/29/2008 from 12:01 AM PST for up to 24 hours, Xbox Live will be offline for maintenance. As a result, Xbox LIVE and the ?My Xbox? section of Xbox.com will be unavailable, and the Xbox forums will be in read only mode (you won?t be able to post.) The remainder of Xbox.com will be available with limited interruptions.

This service maintenance is in preparation for the new Xbox experience which will be available later this fall.

Let me reiterate: When the service returns, you will not have any new features and you will not have the new Xbox experience update. That will happen later this Fall.

edit: Made this thread a sticky for the day while Live is down.

Well, the 360's OS is only 32MB. It'll be interesting to see how well the new Dash runs without a HDD attached.

I assume Red Rooster was joking, because they're obviously not going to give a free arcade game for a planned outage.

It says "for up to 24 hours". I am sure they just pad it in case shit hits the fan for some reason

Yeah, if all goes well it might be up in the evening on Monday. Those of us who work 9-5 might not even be affected.

Yup.. it just went down at about 12:08am pst. Was playing COD4 at that time and we were all talking about when it was supposed to happen and not long after that we all got signed out of Live...

Coincidentally, my power company hit us with a power outage at about that time, woke me up due to the UPSs going off (there are many here). Maybe a guy at a power station got angry when it went down and threw his controller against the control panel?

Yeah, my guess is that it'll be up this evening. The "24 hours" is probably a pad as mentioned above.

It annoys me that they shut down the Zune services, too, but such is life. Maybe we'll get an "OMG MEGATON" announcement that the Zune and XBL marketplaces are now unified when the dashboard update comes out, but I'd be a little surprised. (I'd be happy just getting MPEG-2 and AAC-5.1 on the dashboard...)

That's what sucks about all of Microsoft's media offerings being so completely inter joined, that everything goes down when they do maintenance. Oh well, I'll live. :)

Well for Rock Band 2, the DLC was showing on my songs list, but only certain songs would work. Other times it would say that the songs selected are not available and kick me to main menu.

RB1 songs did not show at all. Now I'm totally confused on how it works with signing in and such.

Why? Did she bring home the Mother-in-Law(tm) who brought her Wii and ties up your HDTV all day and all night 'playing' WiiFit with her feet but with her butt never leaving your sofa while eating your entire stash of Cheezy Poofs because she ran out of Bon-Bons because you only made two trips to the grocery story today but she stacked her Wii and the empty junk food wrappers on top your 360 and left your 360 turned on and your 360 overheated and RRODed while you were at work? Smile. It could have been even worse...
