edit: looks like it is back to $34.99. If you search for Xbox on Amazon.com, price shows still shows up as $30, but when you click on link, price is $34.99. Looks like they must have had tremendous demand at that price.

With the PS3 and the Wii now offering Netflix streaming, I wouldn't be surprised to see these lower annual prices stay for XBL. They just lost one of the reasons to buy the annual gold membership.

I agree. My sub is about to expire and since I've been playing my PS3 more, I'm wondering if I even need the Live sub anymore.

Ah well, I might as well buy this while it's $34.99 before it goes back up to $50.
