Xbox live games

I just got my xbox a little over two weeks ago. I love halo 2! I picked up Unreal Championships for 15 bucks and jumped on live to only find a few servers with people playing🙁 I didn't know this game wasn't very popular so I'm trying to find out how many other First Person Shooters are out on xbox that are popular on live like Halo 2.

Are there any besides Halo/Halo2?

well unreal (championship?) 2 comes out very soon for xbox. as does the next rainbow six. they are coming this month. those are going to give halo 2 some competition in the FPS department. however i don't think they will have as huge a user base as halo 2 does.

i also see many of my friends playing brother in arms on xbox live right now.

Chronicles of Riddick is the best FPS on XBox since the original Halo IMO, but it doesn't have an online component. Still well worth a rent - you can probably knock it out in a week.

Honestly if you love FPS just get a decent computer for the best games are made for PC in my honest opinion.

Xbox is a pretty good system, althought i am still undecided how i feel about halo2. I really liked the pistol in halo1 and halo2 seems way more weapon depandent then the old game. A lot of the situations you encounter in the game totally rely on who has the better combination of weapons. Two SMGs will never beat a pistol and (put gun here). I think a lot of what people play on xbox live thos halo2, all the sports games, ddr🙂, and mech assault1&2
Anyway my new fav game is Smash Brothers for the game cube..god that game is awesome.

I never even finsihed halflife2, farcry, or doom 3.

I can't get into singe player games for anything🙁

I usually play with my bro and all his college buddies and enjoy it. Last night I got in a big team battle, snipers and rockets only(on some outside canyon like level with two bases). My team had 5 ppl and the other team had 6. The other other team was talking MAD crap. We went to 100 and we won badly. I had 57 kills (some points more than their entire team) and the 2nd place guy had 27ish.

That was an awesome feeling because they didn't say jack sh1t after the game.

heh i agree about halo 2. one simple solution to this whole crap would be to give a battle rifle start instead of the worthless unless dual wielding SMG.

they are seriously considering this in the next update, and i REALLY REALLY hope they incorporate it. it would make match making 100x better.

Anyone use the KB/mouse boxes that are out for XBOX nowdays? I have a hard time playing FPS with a controller. I've been tempted to order the KB/mouse box and see if it works as advertised. I have my XBOX on a desk next to my computer, so it wouldn't be a problem finding room for the setup.

<long term FPS junkie on the pc. I sold my gaming rig in January. I miss CS:S so I just bought a mATX rig since I had a spare case. Only a 1600+, gig of ram, 9500 pro but it will do until I can afford a 9300 lappy😀

And i agree with the starting with the battle rifle..it would make it much much better. Although if someone has a plasma pistol and a battle rifle its pretty much unstopable still.

that was my disappointment with XBL also. I went to play ESPN MLB 2k4 a few months back and there were no people on. I tried NHL 2k5 then too and only 2 people available, who didn't even answer while I waited. I guess it's good for the most recent/popular games only... I'm guessing more people would pop in if XBL wasn't a subscription service (like online PC games such as UT2k4).

I heard the other team yelling OMGWTF? HOW? on just about every shot i made. i hate controllers. My bro can hang with a controller as well as I can with a keyboard/mouse. It's just what I am used to. I haven't played a console since the n64. I've been gaming on the PC for 5+ years.

Good to hear. Sounds like picking one up isn't a bad idea at all. I would be able to go back and play some games I skipped because I'm terrible at controller FPS.

maybe not with any eyecandy but it will run it. going to pop in a 2500+ barton soon as I get the cash. it's not near my 3.2/6800OC rig i had but it's better than a 400mhz laptop that i've been on🙁

the one that came out first from HK (I forget the name at the moment) was supposed to work pretty well, except that it doesn't exactly behave like a mouse would if you spin quickly. It has some minor "lag" issue.

Hmmmm I would love to try that. i would probably own. I wonder why xbox doesnt release an official box set for their system...and dont give that it would be too much like a computer bull crap.

Only problem is that when i go home on weekends and such we have a get togethers at our friends house and have a 10+ player game. They wouldnt be down with someone using a mouse and keyboard probably.

I will tell you this. I'm a huge q3/cs junkie so aim/accuracy is VERY important to me. When I played CS you could blow my mouse cross my mousepad because smoothness was key to me. Halo 2 isn't near as smooth and I'm thinking they made it like that because in Unreal Champ. it is pretty smooth almost as smooth as what I'm used to on the PC. It is still 100 times easier if you are used to a kb/mouse.

I'm sure there are tons of people against it but trust me I still get my ass handed to me by people on controllers. It's what I'm USED to. My bro has never played a FPS game in his life and he can pick up the controller and hang with me while I'm on my kb/mouse. He got on the kb/mouse thing I have this past weekand and didn't know what to do, he was lost.

I will tell you this. I'm a huge q3/cs junkie so aim/accuracy is VERY important to me. When I played CS you could blow my mouse cross my mousepad because smoothness was key to me. Yeah i love CS and UT a lot and in those games..you are right its all about accuracy..a head shot is a instant kill. to me while halo is a fun game for you and your freinds just to fool around and have a little fun it really isnt as great of a game as any PC FPS could be. Halo is a much slower paced game...you run slow..you cant aim nearly as accurately...and you jump like you have fricken wings.

halo 2 was designed for a controller, not kb/m combo. thats why, even with the kb/mouse kit, it still won't play nearly as smooth as a FPS game on a PC. you can test it on your own ...

the speed you move up/down is not the same speed you move left/right on halo 2. this makes playing with a mouse very different than playing a normal FPS with a mouse, where all directions you move the speed is the same. also the auto aim is geared towards controllers as its harder to be precies with a controller. the game in general was designed for a controller, and i can pretty much guarantee you will NEVER see an MS kb/mouse official combo for the xbox.

Right on. I'm not expecting to be uber-master once I get a KB/mouse setup. It's just that I'm used to that and get frustrated using a controller. Not so much because I'm bad, but just moving around is generally annoying.

It probably does come down to what you are used to.

I dont know about that. PS2 has its fair share of FPS and it has a keyboard/mouse combo. It may be becuase of some other games..but it still has it.
