Xbox live and Mass Effect 2 help

So I got my wireless network set up, and I've activated my free xbox live account (the free month I got from my RROD). It set up under a new account instead of the one I've been using. I redeemed the Cerberus code that came with Mass Effect 2 and it downloaded (actually it says its pending, I'm assuming it will dload) but it is to the new account, not the one I always play with. How do I use the dload with my old account that has the saves.

Also, all of my trophies etc are on my old account. Is there a way to merge the accounts to make my old account have Xbox live?
 
Sounds like you made the classic rookie mistake of not making your original gamertag live, and instead just created a new live enabled tag. They're completely separate and there's no way of merging them.
 
This sucks. I have a good 12 hours invested in Mass Effect 2 that I want to be able to finish up with the new downloaded content, but now I can either start over or just say fark it and continue on with the one I'm already playing.
 
So wait you can't load up your saves from the old account in the new account, even in the load screen?

I could have sworn I started playing with my offline account then switched to my live account bc of the dlc because I remember I had to start over on my achievments.
 
Odd because I'm missing all the acheivements you get from playing the first hour of the game. The DLC isn't really that impressive, it's just some Dragon Age armour and a couple of new planets you can go on, but nothing that really enhances the game at all. I'd say just keep playing. Maybe when you want to replay the game you can use the Live account.
